STERNA – Non-Magnetic Based Target Acquisition System

Canada contract for STERNA

Twenty20 Insight Inc. wins Canadian contract to supply Safran Vectronix north finders

Heerbrugg, Switzerland, February 27, 2015 – Safran Vectronix AG (Safran Electronics & Defense, part of Safran) a leading manufacturer of high precision target acquisition systems will provide 119 STERNA true north finders to the Canadian Department of National Defense (DND) on behalf of Twenty20 Insight Inc. STERNA will enable target acquisition by day or by night. The contract includes the adaptation of the Canadian Army VECTOR 21 Nite handhelds for use with STERNA.

STERNA was found to be the best product to meet all demands of the DND expressed in the Digital Angle Measurement System tender. Vectronix has been working closely with Twenty20 Insight Inc. for a number of years to provide a perfect solution meeting the requirements of this major customer. Thanks to high grade HRG technology (Hemispheric Resonating Gyro), Safran Vectronix’ STERNA provides true north capabilities 24 hours per day, 7 days a week, in any environment, and works in all weather conditions.

STERNA operates independently and does not require the soldier to carry any support resources to directly determine true north. Vectronix’ STERNA does not require GPS, celestial bodies, survey, or landmarks, and can operate in a magnetically charged environment. STERNA’s independent true north capabilities permit the soldier to operate in virtually all battle and hostile environments.
